Just wanted to highlight these guys with a huge thank you.:B_thumb: - especially to Alan Amos, the dealer who help me through the process.

As most of you will know I bought my new car - Silver C70 - 12 Month RAC warranty, full service and 12 Month MOT. I was very happy with the part-ex they gave me on the Astra. At the time of purchase I was assured that the ETS was covered by the warranty.

When I went to see the car and agreed to buy it, I noticed that the CD magazine from the SC-901 3 stack CD player was missing. They pursued the previous owner to track one down - which eventually didnt materialise. As it turned out the previous owner had pulled a fast one coz after buying a new magazine for it - it turned out the CD player wouldnt read any CDs. Volvo do an exchange on the SC-901 which Dickens contributed 100 quid towards the total cost of £120 (exc VAT). No fuss was made and everything was sorted very quickly.

Sadly it would appear that this was not the only "issue" that had been covered up. About 2 weeks ago the ETS light came on - along with a sinking feeling. Car in limp-home, irratic idle - (the usual symptoms).
Took the car to HLM and Adam (thanks!!) read the long list of codes. It transpired that the engine warning light bulb had been disabled/removed - something I didn't notice at the time of sale (#gasp#).
The prognosis? - replace ETM and pedal sensor (accelerator pedal).
Rang Alan - who said to ring the RAC, which I did.
RAC said "Computer says No! #cough#"
I calmly explained my predicament to Alan who escalated the problem, fought my corner and got the RAC to co-operate - all within 24 hrs. :Handshake

Few days later VT had the car all fixed (big thanks to them again!!) and all is well.

I just wanted to say that this level of service restores my faith in companies with proper customer service.

I am thrilled with the car and would offer my gratitude to Dickens for their supreme service and professionalism.

This is a great story Dave. It shows the type of people we unfortunatly have to deal with (the original bulb removing owner) and the fact that customer service does still exist in this country - although too often it is few and far between.

Well done to the dealer - specifically the named contact. A man who takes his job and his duty as a representative of that company seriously.

And well done to you Wobbly - too often do we complain about bad service and not often enough do we congratulate good and decent service.

Nice one.
Andrew.

Thanks Andrew. Just want to say that the reasons behind the CD player and ETM issues are implied and just my opinion. There is no proof - all the evidence is circumstantial.

I've had one of the dash bulbs removed on a previous car also - be careful with this one peeps as a lot of folks miss it.

Indeed - If in doubt get the car user manual out and compare.

Wouldn't be the 1st owner to remove a bulb, not gonna be the last. Indeed, I have seen a few suggestions on this forum to do similar things. Good to know things worked out well for you Wobbly. Glad the RAC cover came up trumps. Olive's AA cover was about as much use as "tit's on a bull" when the evaporator packed up. But eh!!! S**t happens!

Some t***er removed the ABS bulb from my car, prior to me purchasing it - due to that 'common ECU fault' - fortunately Wobbly Dave saved the day and repaired my ECU for me!
