The Lamda light on my (new to me) T5 is on all the time. Engine is idling at approx 1200. I've heard that this may be caused by excessive air intake - can anyone help?!

I would pull the codes first, have a look at this info http://www.volvospeed.com/CheckEngine.php and http://www.troublecodes.net/Volvo/

Check all your hoses and connections. Make sure there is nothing silly first. It sounds like it could be the MAF(mass air flow) meter. May just need a clean , but check the codes first!

Get the codes and post them up. Make sure that you get all the codes , there could be one code , but also another one after you repeat the process. When mine played up it was 2-1-2 which was the o2 sensor , turned out that a third party was installed and not the original Volvo one hence it shorted out in wet weather, but never affected the engine that much.
